Critter Care - Pet Sitting
for a Cause

           Supporting animal advocacy programs.

Offering an alternative to boarding facilities, I’ll take care of your beloved pets in your home as if they were my own — with love, kindness and compassion.

A percentage of proceeds will be donated to a non-profit animal advocacy program including the Chittenden County Humane Society, Green Mountain Animal Defenders and the Vermont Police Canine Association because the world is a better place with animals!

A little about me: I work remotely full time for FoodScience, LLC in the veterinary division, VetriScience Laboratories - going into my 24th year.  I volunteer for several animal organizations including the Chittenden County Humane Society, the Vermont Police Canine Association and Green Mountain Animal Defenders. I've  completed my Professional Pet Sitters and First Aid and CPR for Dogs and Cats Certifications with Pet Sitters International and Animal Behavior and Welfare from the University of Edinburgh via Coursera.org and End-of-Life Doula Certification from The University of Vermont.

I currently have Chia, my shadow and rescued dog and rescued Russian tortoise named Zoe. Most importantly, I value and cherish all animals. I am also a freelance writer with five published children's books and animal articles published in the Williston Observer and 4 Legs & a Tail. The summer 2021 issue of 4 Legs has two articles on police dogs: one about Williston's Duke (who is also featured in the third book), the second featuring Nova from the Essex Police Department. The spring 2022 has a piece on English bulldogs and more about Duke. The spring 2023  features a piece on dog fostering.

Summer 2023 features photos of the Vermont Police Canine Associations' 2023 K9 Ball as well as an article from the perspective of a once eight-year old.  The fall issue of 4 Legs & a Tail highlights the life of a special 20-year old cat while the winter issue features a piece of Finding Lost Pets and Celebration of Green Mountain Animal Defender's 40 years. Fall 2024 includes a piece on backyard chickens and the spring 2025 issue will have an adventure in off-leash adventuring with Four Pawsitivity.

I'm able to combine my love of animals with pet sitting during the workday, as well as weekends, as long as I have high-speed, reliable internet and am able to bring my dog with me. She is very easy going and adapts well to all critters (even cats and chickens - and goats!).

After my expenses (insurance mainly) are paid, I donate a portion of the proceeds to a non-profit animal advocacy program. It's a win-win-win!

Entrusting me with other people's pets and homes is a responsibility I take very seriously. The safety and well-being of the animals in my care are my primary objectives. I have glowing references I can provide.

Get in Touch

Happy Tails.

I’d love to hear your feedback. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Our family has two wonderful, spoiled, mildly high maintenance dogs.  They are six and three and before Karen they had never been left with anybody outside immediate family.  Karen took the time to come over a few days early to meet the gang and allow them to get comfortable with her.

During Karen’s time at our house she gave meds to our oldest dog, stuck to the somewhat quirky daily routine our dogs are used to, and sent pictures and text updates daily to ease our mind.  When we returned the dogs were both so happy and relaxed you never would have known we left.

Karen allowed us to leave them with peace of mind, and in just a week she also became part of the family.  I recommend Karen to anybody looking for a pet sitter! My family is extremely grateful and she will be our first call in the future!
